He’s a legendary figure and has played hockey for over 20 years. The son of two Italian immigrants who spent his childhood living in the Northeast section of Philadelphia, Ray made his way from Greer Elementary School where he will always have a special place in his heart, South Philly High School, East Catholic High School and Saint Joseph’s University before joining the Philadelphia Flyers organization. There are not too many athletes who can combine their love of dance with the love of their sport. As a young kid growing up Ray Mirra in Philadelphia, dreamed of one day playing hockey. It’s an activity most kids are familiar with, but most kids don’t go on to achieve their dream to play in the National Hockey League. Ray Mirra did just that, and it took hard work and a bit of luck to get there. 

From June 2006, when he was promoted by Comcast Spectacor to serve as Director of Fan Development and Community Relations, to April 15 of this year, when he delivered his final FlyerFest speech under the banner “Why I Give,” Ray has played an integral role in increasing awareness for our players and our team. This includes helping build an active fan base via social engagement, fan events, donations and more. His remarkable dedication has earned him a reputation as one of the best corporate communicators in the business.

Ray Mirra has been an outstanding presence at all of the Flyers’ home games, including those played in other arenas and any other indoor or outdoor events.
